So I turned my xbox on last night to find it had died on me. The 3 red lights on the controler circle were bright red meaning only one thing, Hardware Failure. My xbox is only one and a half years old, so I should be able to get it repaired under warranty (seeing that the new warranty is now three years instead of one) hopefully.
So I’m making this post to track things like times and dates of calling Microsoft etc also when I send my xbox off, so I know how long its been taking.
Update:
27-01-09: Rang up the Xbox hotline and arranged to send my Xbox to them for repair. I’m told my three year warranty ends in june (seems my Xbox is way older than I thought), so this repair will be free of charge. I got the CSR to note that my dvd drive is rather loud and makes unhealthy noises. Hopefuly that will fix that as well.
28-01-09: Sent my Xbox off today.
02-02-09: Xbox has been recieved by the customer service centre. Email states I will receive my console back in 3-4 weeks.
05-02-09: My Xbox was delivered this morning woo! Gears of War 2 co-op on Saturday!
So the whole process took about nine days in total. Now I just got to see if they fixed the cd drive and if I don’t get the red ring of death again.
Last Update: My Xbox is now whisper quiet and is running very well. I’ve read that they basically replaced the whole xbox except for the shell and this seems to be true. The whole process only took about 8 days and the xbox hotline person was very nice and helpful.
All credit goes to Booth for the pic.
