Guide: MHFU Yian Kut-Ku

MHFU Yian Kut-Ku

Info: A bird-like wyvern with a huge beak and large ears that splay open when it is angered. With its sensitive hearing it dislikes loud noises. It is smaller but faster than other wyverns

Yian is the first Wyvern you will fight and can be hard for newbie hunters. If you’re having trouble with him trying using a different weapon and learn his move set completely!

Remeber to mark him with a paintball to keep track of him.

Weak against: Ice element.

Move List:

  • Fireball: YKK will jerk his head back then suddenly he will bring it back down while shooting a fireball in a straight line. It’s pretty easy to dodge and it will vanish after a short distance.
  • Tackle:  He will run at you full pelt and then fall to the ground. He can do this from the other side of your current zone. He doesn’t stay down long so be ready for his next attack.
  • Peck Attack: YKK will launch at your very fast with his head up and peck at the ground a few times like a chicken. Sometimes he will turn to you and do a second round of pecks.
  • Tail Whip: Yian will do a spin and hit you with his tail if your too close to him. Roll away from him and wait till its over.
  • Taunt: YKK will scratch at the ground and put his head down whilst growling. This is a opening to attack him or flash bomb him etc. You have about a second or so to get your attacks in before he starts his next move.
  • Backward Brush: Yian will fly backwards abit while screaming (the scream won’t affect you). You will be knocked down by the wind gust if your too close. It does this to get distance to launch its next attack on you.
  • Multi-Fireball: YKK will launch a many fire balls at intervals on the left and right of him. Try to stay away from his left and right while he does this.
  • Rage Mode: Yian will have a hissy fit and jump up and down with fiery and smoke coming out of his mouth. He will become stronger faster and less predictable. So hold back if you’re new to fighting him while this goes on.

Strategy: Aim for the head. Firstly because it will do the most damage and secondly because we want to break his weird looking ears. If you break his ears theres a chance you will get one as a reward. You can use the ears to make decorations which will come in handy later on.

If you find yourself getting hit a lot and fainting it’s because you’re being too greedy with your attacks. The idea is that you make an attack when you see a opening and then roll away. If you hang around him too much you will get hit one way or the other.

When you see his ears fold back on his head (breaking them will look different to this) it will mean that he’s near death and should fly away to sleep. Follow him to where he is sleeping and capture him.

What to bring: Sonic and flash bombs. Don’t overuse them though he’s pretty easy and using bombs a lot is considered a cheap tactic in the MH community.

What you can break: His Ears (You might get a YKK ear as a reward after breaking them)
