I’ve been waiting months to see ROTF as I loved the first movie to death. I’ve been a transfan since I was around 5. I remeber watching the animated movie and crying my eyes out because Optimus Prime die. Major spoilers are a head so don’t read on if you haven’t seen the movie!

I loved ROTF nearly as much as the first movie. Why nearly you ask? Well there where some things I really didn’t like such as Isabell Lucas who can’t even full of a convincing American accent (That’s so not hard at all) and can’t act to save her life.

Another thing that bothered me was the non-introduction of all the new transformers. There were a lot of new characters and at most a lot of them only had one line. The twins and jetfire had decent screen time and were awesome. I just would of liked even a small intro of the new Autobot members even if they only said “Hi”.

Now my bitching is over with let’s get to the good stuff.

Devastator was freaking awesome as were all the constructicons. I think Longhaul is my favorite, I’m so buying a figure of him.

Optimus prime having a four way fight with three other decepticon’s was awesome even if he did get killed at the end of it. When he was resurrected and combined with jetfire I was so happy I think I sparkled…(maybe not).

I loved the fact that Megatron and Starcream were back to squablling like their G1 selves. I wasn’t too happy about Megatron serving the fallen like that. His ego is way too big to serve another.

Soundwave was awesome even if all he did was orbit the earth and spy on the humans/autobots.

Wheelie and the twins were awesome as comic relief. I loved how wheelie kept calling Mikaela “Warrior Princess” after she hurt his eye. A Xena reference maybe?

In all I was pretty happy with how the movie turned out and I can’t wait to see the third. I’m so hoping they keep the current writing team and that the third movie is about Unicron.

I’m Giving Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: 8/10
Some things could of been better, but it did have some awesome moments. I want to watch it again just for Devastator!

Star Trek (XI) was fairly awesome. It had some flaws which I’ll go into later but as a whole it was a great movie. Everyone can enjoy this movie from trek fans to people who haven’t seen or care about star trek. JJ Abrams has managed to create his own awesome spin on the franchise by creating an alternate time line.

Here’s some things I loved and disliked:

Eric Bana was really wasted as Nero

Shakey Hand Camera was used too often and was really noticable on the movie screen

The guys who wrote Transformers also wrote this so there were a lot of awesome funny moments

Simon Pegg was great as scotty and I’m sure he loved playing him

Nero’s back story was a little stupid. Who’s going to sit around for 25 years with a full crew of crazies

Shooting up Nero’s ship at the end was very much un-star fleet like

The alien races weren’t so well done and they didn’t use any from any of the other franchises which is weird

I’m giving Star Trek: 8.5 / 10
For being an awesome revamp that everyone can enjoy.

I can’t call myself a long time fan of the watchmen, I got the graphic novel just after last Christmas and read it over a month. I did buy it knowing the movie was coming out soon and to see what all the fuss was about. The graphic novel had been listed in time magazines top 100 novels since 1923 and is held in high esteem among graphic novel fans.

The watchmen was really the best graphic novel/comic I’ve ever read. It had so many layers of story woven into a great read. I really got into all the characters not just one or two, I liked all of them as they had very interesting back stories.

Moving onto the movie now. I saw the movie adaption last Friday night, I went with a friend who had also just recently read the graphic novel and we were quiet excited about the movie, as we heard it was the best adaption you could of made out of such complex of source material. The intro was really well done, showing the start of costumed heros around the 40′s and moving to 1985 while showing big events with the heroes mixed in. Such as the moon landing with the astronauts finding Dr Manhattan on the moon waiting for them with a movie camera.

The rest of the movie was pretty spot on to the graphic novel while obviously leaving some things out, otherwise the movie would of been 5 hours not 2hrs and 40mins. The Director Zack Snyder used the graphic novel itself as a storyboard and wanted to keep to that as much as possible. Which worked out really well until he started adding stuff into the movie that wasn’t in the graphic novel, like the ultra violence and sex. The graphic novel was about as violent as a Bond movie, but somehow Mr Snyder thought it would be great to ramp the violence up to levels where even I had to look away. The movies love scene if you can call it that, was more like a porno.

Maybe if they bring out a M or PG version of the watchmen movie with the graphic violence and porno like sex scene cut out or down, I’d buy it on DVD.

I’m giving The Watchmen 6.5 8 out of 10. A great re-creation of the comic, but wtf was with all the ultra violence and sex?

Edit: Upon Reflection I’m changing the score to 8 out of 10. If I hadn’t gone with my gf I wouldn’t of minded the violence so much.

I went into this movie expecting the best Bond movie of all time from what the critics were saying. It turns out this wasn’t the best bond movie of all time but it still was pretty respectable. I do however feel it was a step back from the awesomeness that was Casino Royale.

I know it’s going to sound weird when I say that the movie felt pretty soulless. Because firstly it’s a Bond movie and secondly its a action movie, but nevertheless it still felt cold. This may of been intentional because this is how bond himself feels after the death of Vesper in Casino Royale, so if it was intentional they did a great job of making us feel it via the settings and character interactions.

I found Quantum to be a bit “Bournish” for my liking. I prefer my Bond to be chased by bad guys and not his own people because their unhappy with the way he is operating. Bond is a character who is supoused to be in control in every situation and having his own organisation go against him doesn’t really work for me.

I’m being pretty negative about the movie but ultimately I liked it and I’m looking foward to the 3rd part of the current trilogy story line.

I was really wanting to love this movie, but it didn’t quite live up to expectations. Which is weird because they gave Guillermo del Toro full control this time and I’m a fan of del Toro’s other projects such as Blade II and Pan’s. I was hoping Hellboy 2 would be as good or greater than his previous works.

Things I liked:

The animation at the start when Hellboy’s father tells him about the battle between men and mythical creatures

Hellboy and Abe getting drunk and singing together

Luke goss as Prince Nuada who stole the show in my opinion

Johann Krauss

The story was interesting

Things I didn’t like:

Half hearted acting by most of the cast, Selma Blair should of just stood around asking for her pay cheque, it would of been more convincing

Hellboy looked like he didn’t have any shoulders this time around

The Goblin Blacksmith was supposedly crazy but acted fairly normal other than wanting shiny items

I’m giving this a 4 out of 5. Mainly because I was really tired when I saw it and will probley enjoy it much more when I buy it on DVD.
